Bulldogs Chewing Your Furniture?
They love to chew and eat things they aren't supposed to. Daffodil & Crunch, our bulldogs will eat anything and everything so we have to be very careful what she is allowed access to. Some might call this "pica", which means craving of non food substances such as dirt, wood, chalk, and clay. It also took Daffodil a very long time to grasp that she was not allowed to chew on everything left around the house (i.e. shoes, kitchen table, couch!). This was such a problem we have even developed suggestions for others from our experiences.
What to do if your bulldog puppy is chewing up your house:
It is very important to establish form an early age what is allowed to be chewed and what is not. You can help your bulldog distinguish between chew toys and non-chew toys by using a basket to hold all their toys in. Kong toys, butchers bones, rope toys, nylabones, empty plastic soda bottles, all are great as chew toys. Be mindful of toys that flake, if it can be ingested it will be. It may take some time but your bulldog will get it.
