Hello bulldog lovers and dog lovers all around,
Daffodil was the first bulldog we have had as a pet. She is great, but as you can imagine bulldogs are extremely bull headed and very stubborn, in other words: "What Daffodil wants, Daffodil gets", and what our bulldog Daffodil wanted was a website to share some of her photos and good times with all of you.
We love our bulldog Daffodil. With so many "Bulldog Lovers" out there, and the publicity that many bulldog breeds have received of late, many people whom are looking for a new family pet are looking at a bulldog breed.
We are here to say "bulldogs make great pets". If you now are considering one we would encourage you. However, please understand, bulldogs often have more physical and genetic problems than do many other breeds.
While these family oriented dogs can bring you lots of joy to your life. Be prepared, not only do full breed bulldogs make very expensive puppies, but they can be even more expensive dogs.
High end dogs, such as bulldogs, are often purchased in pet stores. The problem with this is many times the family/bloodline information available is ether incomplete or inaccurate. Inspecting a bulldog's bloodline is recommended even if your bulldog is intended only as a family pet.
Also, the expertise of the breeder and their knowledge of the animals they breed are very important. Breeders who only breed bulldogs often have a better understanding and knowledge of chronic bulldog health problems. A good breeder should be hesitant to sell a puppy they are suspecting has a genetic physical problem as there are laws in place to try and protect consumers from breeders selling and breeding dogs with genetic problems.
Other common bulldogs traits:
They love to chew and eat things they aren't supposed to and they are always hungry. This generally means they end up eating food they are not supposed to. The best defense against bulldogs eating you out of house and home is positive reinforcement. For more tips on what to do if your bulldogs chewing on things they are not supposed to, click here.
Even with their chronic problems, and their aggravating traits, bulldogs can make great pets. There are many web sites and books devoted to helping people find out which dog is right for them. We highly advise you visit one of these sites or read one of these books as dogs take a big commitment and some more than most.
We hope all our guests enjoy this site, and if you every have any questions or suggestions for us please fell free to email us at Daffodil@DaffodilPhotos.com.
